Today after church, we are heading back to this balcony in Mexico. We will do lots of sitting on the balcony, swimming with the kids, and eating with my folks. Basically, a lot of nothing!

Dayspring is participating in the One Prayer series again this year. This year the theme is “God is____.” The first week we heard Craig Groeschel preach “God is Love.” Last week Perry Noble preached “God is Here.” This week, I will preach “God is Father.”
Now obviously it will be Father’s Day so the connection is simple. But I am preaching this not simply because it works out nicely, rather God is Father. The fatherhood of God is not an attribute of God—like God HAS compassion. Rather fatherhood is central to who God is—God IS Father.
I went to a seminary that played down the fatherhood of God so as not to be exclusive and so as not to hinder people in relating to God (I guess since so many people have daddy issues). Scripture does metaphorically compare God to the feminine, yet throughout the scriptures God is Father, Jesus taught us to relate to God as Father, and tomorrow I will unpack some of the attributes of this Father God that make him a Dad worth acknowledging.

While my daughter was out of town this week, my wife took on the project of re-doing her room. My daughter had picked pink for the theme and she got it! My wife worked very hard painting, buying things, getting pictures made and re-arranging the room—but I took the pictures (guess I should have shot some before pictures as well) L.

Since I rarely ever post, I am not sure anyone reads this blog any longer. But for those of you who happen by I need your input.
I need you to answer three questions for me. There is no right or wrong answer and your answers do not have to be long. I am looking for gut instinct here.
Community or Fellowship:
- Which word speaks to you most?
- Why and what does it mean to you?
- Do you have a synonym that is more intuitive or which you like better?

So my wife, Sharla, signed us up for softball, which neither of us have ever played. Softball has kicked our rears so far! The first week Sharla got a bruise the size of a small dog on her knee and leg. This week while I was running to first, I took a small look back and bit the dust about 10 feet short of first. Attached are the pictures of my arms and knee (children and women avert your eyes).
I think it is great to try new things, but at some point you have to figure out what you are good at and, well, what you aren’t.
This week I have spent some time considering the future of Dayspring. I am using June to dream and vision for the future. One of the big questions I asked was, “What comes naturally to Dayspring?” In other words, what are we good at doing and what takes more energy.
I think it is important that churches play to their strengths. Dayspring can do what other churches cannot and vice versa. So I hope that June leads to some focused direction for Dayspring in the fall. And as for my fall schedule, I think I’ll just sit on the bench and cheer the team.
