Dayspring had a BIG crowd on this first Sunday of the year. We had a lot of visitors, but I noticed that a few came from a church that is hurting – not my goal. I am hoping that New Year’s resolutions stick and all of the people who decided to come back to church…stay!
Nine years ago I preached a sermon series through the book of Jonah. I started another one through Jonah today. I tried to look for my old sermons and garner some old insights, but I could not find them (that is probably a good thing, because I don’t remember it going that well 9 years ago). But as Jonah will find out, we serve a God of second chances.
I have a busy week ahead of me with lots of meetings, but I am glad for the full workweek to return. We introduced Paul James, Dayspring’s new student leader, again today. Paul had a chance to meet some of the parents and students after the service. He is going to do an amazing job being in ministry to them.
Upcoming: joining Sunday in two weeks, small groups in February, Bishop Huie is coming to preach in February, and the Gospel Choir from Wiley College is coming to sing… this is a great way to begin 2009!
